Ms. Paula Martel
Each month SHARE honors people in the community who give relentlessly and without hesitation to help others in need.
Ms. Martel exemplifies volunteerism as she was and is instrumental and a driving force with the creation of Veterans Village, Downtown Las Vegas, Variety Early Learning Center Lorenzi Campus, The Willow Glen Neighborhood Center, Downtown Cares events and numerous other projects that SHARE is dedicated to in the Southern Nevada community. Her efforts to date have resulted in mobilizing countless volunteers, professional assistance and a relentless commitment to our community with helping others in need.
Paula Martel Bio-
Paula Martel has coordinated the Medical Reserve Corps of Southern Nevada (MRC) since 2003. This volunteer group utilizes pre-identified public health, medical, veterinary and other volunteers to support local, state and national public health initiatives and respond to local emergencies. The MRC of Southern Nevada is housed in the Office of Public Health Preparedness at the Southern Nevada Health District.
Prior to joining the health district, Paula was employed by the California State Automobile Association’s (CSAA) claims division and later developed a recognition program and team building events for a CSAA, 250 seat claim call-center. Paula is respected in the community for her ability to coordinate volunteers, both in the corporate and non-profit arenas, and for connecting people with resources to agencies in need. She is on the executive board of the Southern Nevada Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) and a member of the State of Nevada Citizen Corps Council.
Paula spends her free time supporting groups who advocate for the homeless as well as traveling, hiking and kayaking.
